Women in Mining opens nominations for WIM100

Women in Mining UK has opened nominations for the 2022 edition of “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” – known as the WIM100 – as it seeks for a fifth time to spotlight inspirational women and their stories across all roles within the industry.

For the 2020 edition of the WIM100, the group received a record 626 nominations from 60 countries.

“The 100 women featured were selected due to their inspiring contribution towards a stronger, safer and more sustainable mining industry,” WIM UK officials said. “This includes making positive and impactful changes, advocacy and a desire to empower others, perseverance in the face of adversity, and an ability to find solutions to challenges.”

As it seeks the top diverse talent for 2022, WIM UK said nominees should carry with them several traits: to be a trailblazer; to advocate and empower; and to persevere in the face of adversity. The group considers each edition of the WIM100 to be a living history of women who work in mining worldwide.

“[It] tells the stories of their accomplishments, their struggles, their careers and their advice for creating a mining industry fit for the future,” WIM UK said. “Overall, the WIM100 editions are about women who champion equity and fairness, and through their stories we hope readers will see a reflection of themselves which will inspire them to forge careers in mining.”

Nominations can be made through 11:59 p.m. BST on June 10. The form is available here.
