Schedule released for ICGCM 2024

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) has released its schedule for the upcoming International Conference on Ground Control in Mining, set for July 20-22 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Hilton Garden Inn-Southpointe in Canonsburg will once again serve as host to the event, now in its 43rd year.

“We’ve developed a conference schedule that is designed to keep [everyone] engaged and up to date on the latest in ground control mining research,” organizers said.

“ICGCM is committed to [offering] critical industry and technical knowledge, premier educational and professional development opportunities, and information access for ground control and mining practitioners around the world.”

Registration for the conference begins the evening of July 22, when a welcome reception will also be held.

After a morning refreshment break the following day, the itinerary of sessions will begin with case studies, mien mapping techniques and seismicity as well as advances in ground control.

On Wednesday, July 24, again following a morning break, an operators session will be held throughout the morning. A golf event and lunch are on the schedule for the afternoon. A picnic will be held that evening at the hotel’s Washington Garden.

Kicking off sessions on July 25: support design, followed by advances in mine design analysis techniques, then a networking lunch. The afternoon will be made up of subsurface ground movement and numerical modeling sessions before a 4:00 p.m. adjournment.
