Canadian-based technology company and autonomous measurement system developer Ayavex Solutions has joined forces with 3D LiDAR sensor maker Blickfeld to incorporate LiDAR sensor data into operational intelligence across material handling and ground support for autonomous 3D load measurement in mining.
The two jointly said that they will combine Ayavex’s advanced software platform for 3D reconstruction and analysis with Blickfeld’s cutting-edge LiDAR technology to enable continuous, precise load monitoring without interrupting operations.
It will all be integrated into one compact system called ScanHaul, and will spotlight Blickfeld’s Qb2 to capture high-resolution 3D data of haul trucks and rail cars as they pass through the scanning zone at operating speed. Ayavex’s software platform will then reconstruct and analyze the data to generate calibrated volume measurements, equipment classification, and load state assessment – all within three minutes.
This autonomous approach eliminates the need for stopping vehicles, driver interaction, or additional tracking systems. At the same time, Blickfeld’s robust LiDAR sensors ensure reliable operation in harsh mining environments, withstanding extreme temperatures, dust, snow, and vibration.
Making invisible inefficiencies measurable
The system has already proven its performance at a Canadian arctic mine, operating continuously at temperatures down to -37°C and processing over 16,000 vehicle passes with greater than 95% detection accuracy – without maintenance interruption.
“The solution makes previously invisible inefficiencies, such as carryback or underfilled loads, measurable. By providing an auditable record of every load, ScanHaul improves operational transparency, supports accurate billing in subcontracted transport, and helps reduce fuel consumption and overall costs,” said Tsolmon Munkhchuluun, CEO, Ayavex Solutions.
Patrick Pylypuik, president, Blickfeld North America, added: “Mining operations demand technologies that deliver reliable data intelligence without disrupting production. By combining Blickfeld’s software-defined LiDAR with Ayavex’s advanced analytics, we enable a new level of transparency in material flow. This strategic partnership demonstrates how robust 3D sensing and intelligent software can transform raw data into actionable insights – supporting our vision to measure everything, everywhere using LiDAR.”
Ayavex Solutions was founded in 2025 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Blickfeld was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Munich with a U.S. subsidiary.
