Mining3 has extended its partnership with autonomous vehicle solutions firm ABD Solutions, in what both companies are calling a “significant step” for mining’s path to automation and efficiency.
ABD Solutions, which provides end-to-end retrofit technologies that enable the automation of conventional vehicle and equipment fleets, said the pairing will be powered by Mining3’s extensive global mining network. That route, it added, will accelerate the transition.
“Drawing on extensive experience from the automotive sector – where rigorous test track conditions and a wide range of vehicle models are the norm – ABD Solutions has advanced its robotic driving technology by developing a rugged, IP67-rated system built for off-road use,” the company said. “This retrofittable solution enables rapid automation of any vehicle equipped with a steering wheel and pedals, offering the mining industry a transformative opportunity to bridge automation gaps across legacy and mixed fleets.”
ABD Managing Director Rory Grunerud additionally called the collaboration a “major milestone” that will be “the fastest route to innovation and delivering a truly superior product” for mining.
“Our approach to automation is different with our robotic offering – we’re focused on lowering the barrier to entry and making autonomous operations accessible to all. By combining our expertise, we can support operations in transitioning to automation on their terms while maximizing the value of their existing fleets.”
Mining3, founded in 1991, develops innovations to enhance industry profitability, productivity, and safety, and at current has turned its focus to new and modified mining methods along with equipment and operational control.
“[Our] partnership with technology experts and engineers works collaboratively to solve key technical challenges and accelerate the delivery of real-world solutions to the market,” said Mining3 CEO Neville Plint.
“This collaboration aligns with Mining3’s strategy to grow a network of technology innovators with unique capabilities that can transform the mining industry.”
