ABD adds its autonomy presence to Australia

UK-based AB Dynamics subsidiary ABD Solutions has announced the newest step in its strategic expansion: expansion of its international footprint with the formation of an operation in Perth, Western Australia.

ABD Solutions, which specialises in aftermarket autonomy tailored for fleets in mining, construction, materials handling, defence and agriculture, said it launched the new operation in response to growing demand for its Indigo Drive fleet autonomy solution in the Australian market, especially from the mining and resources sector.

Its next step is to introduce in-country demonstrations of Indigo Drive, which is arriving in the coming months.

Also, as part of the Australian expansion, ABD Solutions said it tapped Andrew Van Der Merwe as its new general manager.

Indigo Drive has been designed to expedite the implementation of fleet autonomy by automating existing fleets and infrastructure, ensuring swift, cost-effective deployment. In operation, it said, Indigo Drive creates safer, more productive sites while tackling driver shortages and reducing emissions, which translates to operational savings through reduced fuel costs, better fleet utilisation, and more efficient staffing.

“I am excited to bring our autonomous solution to the Australian market,” the new GM said. “The mining industry in Australia has a huge demand for flexible automation solutions that can be implemented across a range of vehicle types from any manufacturer, while causing minimal disruption to existing operations.”
