Ҫӧpler coming back to life

SSR Mining said it has received the needed regulatory approvals from government entities to restart operations at its Ҫӧpler mine in Turkey following improvement work at its heap leach pad.

The Canadian-headquartered miner said the Turkish Ministry of the Environment issued the approval and reopened the mine 22 September for the first time since the end of the second quarter, when it was ordered closed until the required work was implemented.

SSR had previously scheduled the work for the fourth quarter of this year but fast-tracked the program that included partial relining of the face bricks at Autoclave 1. It also completed all planned maintenance in the sulphide plant, meaning no additional maintenance is needed at Ҫӧpler for the remainder of this year.

Ҫӧpler produced 122,030 ounces of gold during the six months ended 30 June. That was down from 154,232 oz. in 2021 year-on-year. The drop in production was due to depleting oxide ore, it said, which left it with fewer oxide tones and a lower mined grade.

Gold-focused SSR Mining has four producing assets in the USA, Türkiye, Canada and Argentina.
