Strata Worldwide opens new European location

U.S.-based ground control technology and mine safety group Strata Worldwide has confirmed the opening of its new European office in Saarbrucken, Germany.

The new facility, officially opened on 1 July, will be lead by Managing Director Ian Turner, who has extensive experience within the underground arena, supplying mixed portfolios of products and technologies to the mining and tunnelling markets within the European, Middle East and African (EMEA) regions.

Strata’s focus there will be centered around its product offerings in the StrataConnect and StrataProtect product lines. These include versatile underground infrastructures for communication and Internet-of-Things (IoT) networking, environmental monitoring and machine learning, as well as proximity detection and collision avoidance and emergency refuge chambers.

“It has been Strata’s mission to expand and diversify in the markets of tunnelling and underground construction, hard rock mining and maritime,” stated company president and CEO Mike Berube. “Each of these industries is very prevalent in Europe, so it makes sense for us to have a local presence there.”

Strata also has offices in the United States, Canada, South Africa and Australia, with manufacturing facilities in the U.S., South Africa and Australia.
