RCT has confirmed that one of its clients in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is now operating Cat 349D excavators equipped with its automation system as well as rock breaker and back scratch attachments.
The Australian-based company said the technology addition will allow operators at the mine to control multiple machines in real-time using strategically positioned cameras and sensors. The project was undertaken by RCT’s Perth Customer Service and Custom departments and also included installation and deployment of four cameras with pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) capabilities on the machines to communicate with the new automation centre.
“This project marks the debut of our technology on this model of excavator, and the installation was seamless,” said RCT Account Manager Phill Dean. “We pride ourselves on being able to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions for our clients and this project is a prime example of this.”
“Automating the process relocates the operator from the machine and allows them to control the excavator from an operator station which can be positioned on site or potentially in a city location,” said Dean.
The system is now in use after training was provided to operators. RCT noted it will remain available to the unidentified customer for customer support.
