The Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME) announced the availability of a new safety library publication (SLP) for use by the commercial explosives industry.
The new publication, SLP-33: Guide to Explosives & Blasting Agents, addresses safety in the manufacturing of explosives and blasting agents, and addresses elements of process safety management that are directly relevant to explosives manufacturing, storage and use.
SLP-33 is currently available for download on the IME website for a price of $25.

IME was founded in 1913 for the purposes of providing technically accurate information and recommendations concerning the safety of commercial explosives. In 1914, IME published its first SLP governing the construction of storage magazines. Since then, IME has developed and published a suite of best practices and guidelines to ensure not only safety, but also security, in the manufacture, transport, storage, distribution, use, and disposal of commercial explosives. IME’s SLPs have been incorporated into many federal, state, and local regulations governing safety and security.
