First Greek mine adds Immersive simulation training

Eldorado Gold’s Hellas Gold arm has deployed Immersive Technologies’ simulation-based training at its Olympias gold-silver-lead-zinc mine in northern Greece, the first operation in the county to do so.

Olympias, located in the Halkidiki Peninsula, has been undertaking a modernisation project; the addition of the trainers was part of its strategy to improve production rates and efficiency over the last calendar year.

The underground mine deployed two Immersive Technologies IM360-B Advanced Equipment Simulators, which it then blended with learning products will improve operator performance and safety and enhance workforce development strategies.

In an effort to develop a highly skilled and dedicated workforce for the underground operation, the company has purchased simulator conversion kits for Sandvik Underground Loader (LHD), Underground Truck and Drill and Bolter. The mine also retained professional services from Immersive to support the implementation.

“It is an exciting time for mining in Greece. We are proud to support this region in delivering the safest and most experienced operators, resulting in a highly productive mine site,” says Johan Stemmet, regional vice president for EMEA and CIS at Immersive Technologies.
