Compact design behind new Metso Outotec plant technology

Designed to optimize its current induration technology line-up, Metso Outotec has launched its compact-sized pelletizing plant that offers the same high plant performance and quality as larger plants.

The new release’s design is based on a 3-meter-wide indurating machine, building on the state-of-the-art design of Metso Outotec’s larger product range. It will be offered in standard sizes and corresponding capacities: 189 m2 (1.2-1.5 Mtpa), 288 m2 (1.7-2.3 Mtpa) and 315 m2 (2.0-2.6 Mtpa).

Metso Outotec added the plant’s design provides the required flexibility to cater to typical customer demands, and customers can also customize the basic offering with add-on packages. It offers highly standardized engineering as well, contributing to greater cost efficiency and a shorter time to commissioning.

“We are very excited to launch the Compact-sized Pellet Plant. We aim to cater to the flourishing mid-size concentrate producer segment needs with this new offering,” said Matthias Gabriel, director of the Ferrous product group.

“Conventionally, 4m is the commonly available and most-used technology; however, today there is an increasing demand for plants with smaller capacities.”

Gabriel confirmed that Metso Outotec has already won an order for the technology and will be installing its first 3-meter-wide traveling grate pellet plant in Nagarnagar, Chhattisgarh in central India. The plant, which will produce 2 Mt/y of high-quality iron ore pellets, is expected to go into production in 2024.
