One mine employee and a soldier were reportedly killed the morning of 9 June after attackers raided the Nere Mining Group Karma operation in the northern region of Burkina Faso.
According to a Reuters report, three or four more individuals, all soldiers, were injured in the incident at about 4.30 a.m. local time. No identities were released for the assailants or the victims.
An official for the owner told Reuters that operations at Karma have been suspended in order to secure the site.
Nere Mining acquired a 90% interest in Karma from Endeavour Mining in March of this year in a $25 million deal.
