Women in Mining UK announced a new strategic partnership with Minerals Matter, formalized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding in February. The partnership brings together two organizations united by a shared ambition: to strengthen the future of the UK’s minerals and mining sector by widening access, increasing awareness and championing inclusive career pathways.
Managed by The Mineral Products Qualifications Council, Minerals Matter is a not-for-profit membership organization representing the quarrying, mineral products, mining, construction and related manufacturing sectors. The program leads the sector’s drive for succession by raising awareness of quarrying and mining careers among young people, supported by a network of more than 130 Ambassadors engaging directly with education settings across the UK.
“We are delighted to welcome Minerals Matter as a strategic partner. Inspiring more young women to consider careers in mining and minerals is fundamental to building a resilient, innovative and sustainable sector. By working together, we can amplify our impact, connecting education with industry, showcasing real role models, and opening doors to the breadth of opportunities our sector offers,” stated Lucy Crane, Women in Mining UK.
Through the agreement, WIM UK and Minerals Matter will collaborate on outreach and education initiatives, share resources and content, promote relevant activities across both networks, and identify opportunities for joint events and pilot projects. The partnership will also support greater visibility of women in the sector, highlighting professional pathways and leadership opportunities to the next generation.
