U.S.-based SSR Mining has confirmed the suspension of operations at its Çöpler gold mine in Turkey following a heap leach pad slip.
The company, which confirmed the slip was large but offered no further details on damage or injuries, said the incident occurred 12 February during the morning hours.
No information is yet available on a restart timeline.
Çöpler, 80% SSR-owned, is part of the Çöpler District in east-central Turkey in the Erzincan Province, approximately 1,100 km southeast from Istanbul and 550 km east from Ankara.
SSR Mining has four producing gold operations in the U.S., Turkey, Canada and Argentina.
