Spartan gets okay to commence mining at Dalgaranga

Gold miner Spartan Resources has received key regulatory approvals for the mining and processing of underground ores to proceed at its Dalgaranga gold project in Western Australia.

“With these final approvals now in hand, we are excited to move ahead with the next phase of development of the Dalgaranga project and advance systematically toward a production re-commencement, in the process creating new jobs and boosting local communities in the Murchison region of Western Australia,” said Spartan Interim Executive Chair Simon Lawson.

The approvals, granted by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety and the Department of Water and Environment Regulation, include green lighting the installation and operation of a ball mill and pre-leach thickener at the existing process plant as well as the installation and operation of a paste plant utilising recovered tailings as feedstock to provide back-fill support to the underground operations.

Dalgaranga was originally commissioned in 2018 and placed on care and maintenance in November 2022. It produced more than 70,000 ounces of gold in FY2022.
