The Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration have rolled out the call for papers for its MINEXCHANGE 2026 conference and expo in Salt Lake City, Utah.
SME showcases the work of a diverse array of experts every year from academia and beyond during its annual events, and those interested in being on next year’s itinerary should submit a 100-word abstract online by August 1.
Areas of interest include bulk material handling, coal and energy, environmental, geology, valuation, tailings, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, industrial minerals and aggregates, mineral and metallurgical processing, exploration, and underground construction. However, the committee will consider abstracts covering any/all aspects of the mining and minerals industry.
MINEXCHANGE 2026 will also include the Resilient Energy in Mining – Balancing Tradition and Transformation Symposium. The symposium aims to harmonize the longstanding traditions of mining with the imperative need for sustainable practices and renewable energy sources. By exploring strategies for carbon emission reductions, energy transition and the integration of renewable power solutions, participants will engage in constructive discussions to pave the way for a more sustainable energy landscape.
SME is soliciting abstracts for presentations focused on navigating the complexities of tradition and transition to meet the requirements for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting.
“Presenting at a MINEXCHANGE technical session earns authors significant attention and respect amongst the mining community at large, while also enriching our collective knowledge of best practices,” said Tara Davis, SME Content Development and Program Director.
MINEXCHANGE 2026 will take place from February 22-25, 2026 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
