SGS confirmed it has been awarded a contract to operate the on-site geochemistry laboratory at Barrick’s North Mara operation in Tanzania.
The 2,025-square-meter facility, located in the Tarime district, will be staffed by 67. It will be equipped to provide sample preparation, analytical testing, and fire assay, using the state-of-the-art PhotonAssay technology, a non-destructive, environmentally friendly method.
“The introduction of the Chrysos Photon Assay technology on-site represents a significant advancement in gold analysis,” said Lawrence Ng, vice president, Geochemistry.
“This innovative technology not only provides our clients with real-time data, aiding them in making informed decisions throughout the value chain, but also contributes to the optimization of processes to potentially increase productivity.”
