Canadian precious metals miner Fortuna Silver has confirmed the pouring of first gold at its Séguéla operation in Côte d’Ivoire.
The milestone was celebrated 24 May, and the operation is now transitioning from commissioning to its ramp-up phase – and has the distinction of being Fortuna’s fifth operating mine.
CEO Jorge Ganoza said the mine’s team, which “performed phenomenally” was able to deliver the project on-time and on-budget.
“Séguéla now enters into the ramp-up phase where management plans to achieve nominal rate of production during the third quarter. Séguéla will be a cornerstone asset in Fortuna’s portfolio for years to come, and we look forward to unlocking the value it brings to all of our stakeholders,” he added.
Séguéla is expected to produce between 60,000 to 75,000 ounces of gold in 2023. With compelling economics, the company said, the mine has a nine-year mine life in reserves, estimated at 1.028 million oz.
Fortuna Silver has operating mines in Argentina, Burkina Faso, Mexico, Peru, and now Côte d’Ivoire.
