Regis Resources said it will extend its Garden Well and Rosemont underground mines in Western Australia to support its growth strategy. The extensions – Garden Well Main and Rosemont Stage 3 – are expected to deliver between 100,000 to 120,000 ounces of gold annually beginning in fiscal year 2027.
Underground operations commenced at Rosemont in 2019 and at Garden Well in 2020. Both mines are part of the Duketon complex.
“With Garden Well Main and Rosemont Stage 3 underground mines we will be operating three independent underground mining areas. Given the way that the Duketon orebodies have behaved historically and based on our current exploration results, we are confident in our ability to continue to expand our underground mining footprint,” said Managing Director and CEO of Regis Resources Jim Beyer.
“We are well on the way to operating four to five underground mines at Duketon to deliver sustainable gold production of 200,000 oz to 250,000 oz of gold each year. While the growth in underground is a vital part of our value growth strategy we also continue exploring for additional high value, large scale open pits across our dominant holding across the Duketon Greenstone Belt.”
Garden Well Main will open a new mining domain located directly below the base of the current Garden Well open pit with resource definition drilling delineating mineralisation from between 250 to 500 metres below ground level.
Pre-development access is from the existing Garden Well South mine, which has established power, ventilation, water, and mine access. Early development is focused on establishing the dedicated portal decline and fresh air raise and return raise positions for access and ventilation.
Rosemont Stage 3 is located 100 m south of existing Rosemont underground operations and extends 300 metres to a total depth of 700 metres below ground level. It will extend the Rosemont South production area with the installation of associated infrastructure to support reserve growth and life extensions.
Pre-production capital is estimated at $75 million to $95 million for Garden Well Main and between $45 million and $55 million for Rosemont Stage 3. Both projects will have development commencing immediately. First ore from stopes for both extensions is projected to be in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.
