Diversified Canadian miner Lundin Mining has reported a fatality at its Neves-Corvo mine in Portugal on February 12. An employee was involved in a fall of ground accident while operating a piece of equipment underground.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident. Our sincere thoughts and support are with our colleague’s family and coworkers during this difficult time,” said President and CEO Jack Lundin.
The miner said it has notified the appropriate authorities in Portugal and is providing its full cooperation in the investigation. Out of respect, it has also temporarily suspended operations at the copper-zinc-lead mine.
