Hummingbird Resources has reached commercial production at its Kouroussa gold operation in Guinea and has now turned its attention to optimising mining operations, plant throughput, and feed grade to achieve steady-state production over the coming months.
Company officials said that the mine’s average production over the last month has been about 1,900 ounces, a little below the miner’s targeted 2,000-2,500 ounce-per-week rate. It cited low levels of high-grade ore for the tightness, despite all of its equipment performing at or exceeding capacity.
At prime capacity, Kouroussa is expected to produce 100,000 ounces of gold per year over an initial six-year lifespan. It has set its production guidance at 45,000-50,000 ounces for this year.
Kouroussa, located in the prolific Siguiri Basin, achieved its first gold pour on 8 June 2023.
