Flanders, EKU Power Drives form partnership

Flanders Electric Motor Service and EKU Power Drives have entered an exclusive strategic partnership that will add EKU’s idle management solutions to the mining industry.

The partnership will help to push both companies’ efforts toward decarbonization, Flanders officials said, and also reduce costs and boost operational efficiency. Specifically, they will meet the goal by offering idle management and electrification solutions to reduce costs, emissions and fuel consumption; provide retrofittable OEM-agnostic technology solutions for seamless integration and automation capabilities optimizing fleet efficiency; have a comprehensive global sales, support, and service network for easy technology adoption; and foster a shared commitment to decarbonization, sustainability, and operational excellence in mining.

EKU has over 1,000 successful installations worldwide.

Through the collaboration, Flanders said it will integrate EKU’s technology into its broader portfolio of electrification, automation, and drive solutions, ensuring mining operators benefit from seamless implementation, expert support, and optimized fleet performance. It will also be able to offer a comprehensive approach to mine fleet modernization.

“Mining companies are looking for practical, high-impact solutions that don’t require complete fleet replacement,” Flanders Technology Solutions Global President Wayne Chmiel said. “By combining [our] expertise in electrification and OEM-agnostic automation, with EKU’s proven idle management technology, we are providing a scalable, cost-effective pathway to a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable future.”

“With Flanders’ mining expertise…we are confident that our idle management technology will reach more owners and operators looking to lower their costs and carbon footprint, and improve fleet performance,” added Manuel Klein, managing director, EKU Power Drives. “Together, we are enabling smarter, more sustainable mining operations.”
