Thiess has confirmed that a fleet of five new electric-drive Liebherr T 264s have made their entrance, decked out in Thiess blue, at Antofagasto’s Encuentro copper operation in northern Chile.
The arrival, which is an expansion to Thiess’ 240-tonne fleet range, underscores its dedication to expansion in the region, Thiess officials said, allowing for increased productivity and efficiency through faster cycle times and higher capacities.
The delivery is also a first for Chile, Thiess Executive General Manager of Americas Darrell White said.
“The new T 264s feature electric drive and higher load capacity than similar class trucks currently used in Chile, providing our clients with the opportunity to increase production capacity. They also support our efforts to service our clients with sustainable solutions while operating reliable, safe and productive operations,” he added.
All of Antofagasto’s operations are located in the Antofagasta region of northern Chile, except for its flagship operation, Los Pelambres, which is in the Coquimbo region of central Chile.
