GR Engineering picks up Northparkes deal

GR Engineering Services has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Evolution Mining subsidiary Northparkes Mining Services for the Northparkes coarse particle flotation project in New South Wales.

The contract value for the project 300 kilometres west of Sydney is A$68 million. Work will be performed by the firm’s Brisbane team.

Early works have commenced. The upgrade of the existing plant is expected to provide an increase in copper recovery and will improve energy efficiency.

“GR Engineering is pleased to be working again with Evolution Mining, following the successful completion of the Mungari Mill Expansion Project in 2025,” MD Tony Patrizi said.

“We see this contract award as a strong endorsement of GR Engineering’s proven process design record and EPC delivery capability.”

Evolution owns an 80% interest in Northparkes; the remainder is held by Sumitomo Group via joint venture. The operation produces copper, gold and silver. According to the company, in 1997, Northparkes was the first mine in Australia to incorporate block caving.
