Westgold Resources has awarded a three-year underground mining contract for its Great Fingall gold mine near Cue, Western Australia, to Barminco. The miner said it expects a smooth transition to contract operations in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.
“Westgold continues to focus on increasing mine productivity and further leveraging its extensive capital base. Our in-house mining team and fleet is best deployed in our larger, strategic assets and this capability gives us the optionality to utilise specialist contractors in our smaller mines,” said Westgold Managing Director and CEO Wayne Bramwell, noting that Barminco was selected due to its safety processes, mining efficiency and track record of delivery.
Westgold’s larger, owner-operated mines include Beta Hunt in the Southern Goldfields and the Bluebird – South Junction mine in the Murchison region.
