Eramet exploring new Indonesian mining sites

French miner Eramet is reportedly exploring new mining areas in the South Sulawesi and Papua regions of Indonesia, according to a recent Reuters story.

The news agency said the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming of Indonesia Rosan Roeslani posted on Instagram that he met with Eramet Group CEO Christel Bories.

“Eramet outlined its investment plans, including exploration of new areas in South Sulawesi and Papua as well as the development of the Responsible Green Electric Vehicle project involving various strategic partners,” Rosan said.

Eramet’s main operation in Indonesia is the Weda Bay nickel mine in Halmahera, North Maluku – the world’s largest nickel mine.
