Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) has enhanced its Herringbone Wing offering. Based on industry feedback and engineering advancements, PPI is reintroducing the Herringbone Wing offering in two styles, Plate Constructed and Round Contact Bar.
The Plate Constructed line is replacing what was formerly known as the CEMA Herringbone wing. The Round Contact Bar style will remain unchanged with the same availability.
PPI’s engineering team has worked hard to expand the size range of the Plate Constructed Herringbone Wing (HBW) allowing it to be utilized in a broader range of applications. In addition to the expanded size offering, the top arc of the wings has been reengineered improving the interaction with the face of the pulley as it makes contact with the belt.
In pursuit of extending belt life, wing quantities in certain sizes have increased providing better belt support. Other subtle design enhancements have been integrated into the Plate Constructed HBW making it the preferred choice when considering an angled wing design for your application.
PPI Industry Product Manager Mike Roozeboom said, “PPI’s engineering team has really listened to the market feedback when making the design enhancements to this product line. It’s due to these significant improvements and upgrades that we can expand the offering and retire the moniker ‘CEMA HBW.’ We no longer want this Plate Constructed HBW style to be pigeonholed into a light duty application with a limited size range. When our customers have a need for a herringbone wing, we want them thinking Plate Constructed.”
PPI’s Plate Constructed Herringbone Wings are offered in diameters of 6- to 60 in. and face widths of 12- to 78 in. For sizes outside of those ranges please contact PPI with your specific needs.
